TWB #12 – TS Andrea Makes Landfall – June 7, 2013

Jun 6, 2013
Day 7 in the Atlantic, Day 24 in the Eastern Pacific
Tropical Storm Andrea made landfall in the Big Bend region of Florida this evening, with peak winds of 65mph and a minimum pressure of 992mb. Tropical Storm Warnings remain in effect for many parts of Florida and up the east coast as far as Virginia, with flood warnings lining the east coast as far north as Maine in anticipation of the storm, its probable extratropical transition over the Carolinas, and the rest of its progress as it moves northeast towards Nova Scotia.
Two areas of interest are also active in the northern hemisphere – Invest 92L formed today in the central Atlantic, and currently has a 10% chance of development over the next 48 hours.
Another system, Invest 98W, is currently located to the east of the Philippines, and is expected to move northwards and then northeastwards, perhaps developing into a storm in the next few days.
