Shock water FLOODS a Nottingham pub forcing drinkers out UK NEWS

The school holidays began with a washout after a month of rain fell in just a few hours in some areas.

Torrential downpours, thunder and lightning swept across the Channel from France as thousands settled into their summer break.

The heavy rain caused flash-flooding, with some roads closed and motorists warned not to make unnecessary journeys.

Forecasters say the misery is not over yet, with more storms predicted today and further rain expected across the country until Wednesday.

However a more settled period is expected from Thursday, when temperatures in the South East could rise to 30C again.

Yesterday, the Environment Agency issued two flood warnings for Derbyshire and 21 flood alerts in the Midlands and the north of England.

The Met Office issued yellow ‘be aware’ warnings for rain in northern England, the West and East Midlands.
